Agentic ponderings
Two thoughts, coming in fresh from the brain as I sip my coffee, look out the window at the beautiful summer weather, while waiting for my agents to finish up:
- In our brave new world of agentic development, I feel like the temptation to multitask has never been greater. While waiting for one workflow to finish up, it almost feels wasteful to not start another task in parallel, maybe on another repo or product. It feels like the smart thing to do, but I also have a nagging feeling that it might be the largest contributor to my brain fog. Maybe the smart thing is a short stretch, drink some water, take a quick walk.
- Even if productivity is a hard thing to measure (am I really solving the right problems?), it certainly feels like I have increased my speed and level of output, even level of quality. Context and experience matter, as always. But I have also noticed that I seem to move the goal posts of “what is expected to get done in a day’s work”. Maybe even from stakeholders and managers, but certainly from myself.
Either way, I think it’s worth talking about. Our jobs and roles are changing at a very quick pace these days. Take care of yourself and each other. ❤️
